Courier Business Awards

Our top 10 tips for finalists of the Courier Business Awards

As the Courier Business Awards approach for 2019 and the final preparations take place for the event, our Managing Director Daniel Rosie has rounded up his top tips to maximise your evening.

1. Showcase you are a finalist

Display your finalist logo online, offline and in store. Tell your current clients about your achievement to reach the final.

2. Tell everyone your story

What makes you different and some of your key factors within your submission. This might be your team, your product, your recent investment in Research and Development. Share these on your Social Media accounts, now is a great time to shout about your USP’s. Are you a family business? Find some old family photos and share these!

3. Use the event Hashtag

Tweeting about the event prior, during or post-event? Make sure you are using the event hashtag #CourierBizAwards Not only are you likely to get a re-share from the organisers but any posts on the night might end up on the big screen.

4. Tag the @CourierBizAward in your posts.

Don’t forget to tag your fellow finalists and event sponsors. Everybody taking part is actively looking to help promote the Courier Country and showcase our great area! Not forgetting any membership organisations you might be part of such as the Dundee and Angus Chamber, Fife Chamber, Perth Chamber, St Andrews Business Club and Business Angus to name a few.

5. Share your story with industry publications.

While you will see coverage throughout the Courier online and offline, don’t forget to let other media outlets know about your finalist position. There are lots of industry magazines and online news sites which range from construction to hair and beauty.

6. Tweet, Tweet and Tweet!

We all know you are there to have a great time, enjoy the great food, drinks and entertainment but why not pre-prepare some social media posts for the evening so all you have to do on the evening is a snap some photos of you and your team and click post. This will also allow you to have proof checked your posts prior to the drinks beginning to flow.

7. Network

Whilst enjoying a wonderful evening is of course paramount, remember to have a look over the delegate list before attending. There may be some familiar faces for you to say hello to, existing contacts you would like to catch up with, or opportunities to strike up rapport with someone you’d been keen to meet – this can all be done in a relaxed and sociable environment. Review the delegate list before the event and remember your business cards on the evening, you never know who you might bump into.

8. Smile

Take some pictures on the evening with your team and colleagues. These are great for sharing during the event and also for using as marketing materials going forward. It’s a great achievement, make sure you get some photos to look back on!

9. Follow up

Don’t forget to follow up after the evening and arrange to meet anyone you would like to chat further with. This might be other finalists, sponsors or new contacts you have met on the night.

10. Enjoy the evening

Have a great time and enjoy the night with your team, clients, family or friends. It is sure to be a great evening and a true celebration of the great businesses and organisations with the Courier Country. Have a great time!

From all the team at DLR Media we would like to wish all the finalists, sponsors, attendees and event supporters a great evening and good luck!
